Say hello to the new 2017 Porsche 911 GTS

For the past couple of generations, the GTS has been the pinnacle of the everyday 911 range: more exciting than your average Carrera, but much more practical than a GT3 or a Turbo.

It’s now the turn of the facelifted 991-gen version to get the option of GTS variants, which will be available in the UK from March with prices starting from roughly £108,000.

Power has been raised by 30bhp across the board thanks to a newly-developed turbocharger for the current 911’s 3.0-litre flat six, which makes it 20bhp more powerful than the previous 911 GTS.

The new turbo also adds a decent bit more torque which now brings maximum twisting force up to 550Nm, with peak power available between 2,150 and 5,000rpm.

Equipped with a seven-speed manual or the option of a PDK automatic, the new 911 GTS can sprint from 0-62mph in a phenomenal 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 194mph.

Despite the increase in power, Porsche says that the GTS is still efficient, with the basic Carrera GTS able to return up to 34mpg with 188g/km of CO2 when equipped with the automatic gearbox.

As standard, all GTS 911s come with Porsche’s PASM sports chassis, which lowers the ride height by 10mm, plus a Porsche Track Precision app to record lap times and driving information.

The GTS models are further differentiated by a bespoke front end that’s been tweaked for better aerodynamic optimisation, along with a front spoiler and a rear spoiler extension.

Smoked taillights, a black air intake vent and black exhaust pipes complete the look at the rear, while all GTS cars ride on 20-inch alloy wheels and feature special GTS-badged Alcantara seats inside.

The 2017 Porsche 911 GTS is available to order now, and customers can choose the option of a coupe, convertible or targa model with either rear- or four-wheel drive.

Prices start from approximately £94,000 for the entry-level Carrera GTS in the UK, while the range-topping 911 Targa 4 GTS is priced from £108,144
