SEAT Ateca SUV fully revealed

SEAT has officially unveiled its all-new SUV model called the Ateca which will appear at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Potential UK customers can register their interest in the Ateca online ahead of the car’s arrival to dealerships this September.

Design of the SEAT Ateca

Based on the Volkswagen Tiguan platform but smaller in comparison, the SEAT Ateca is a mid-sized SUV which will compete against the likes of the Renault Kadjar and the Nissan Qashqai. Like those crossovers, the Ateca sports design features like roof rails plus chunky bumpers and side skirts.

The general look though is similar to the rest of the current SEAT range, with the face being particularly reminiscent of the latest Leon family car.

Ateca engines and gadgets

A wide range of petrol and diesel engines will be offered for the Ateca utilising either front or four-wheel drive. The line-up will include an entry-level 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit with 114bhp and a 1.4-litre petrol with 148bhp. Diesel offerings will include an 114bhp 1.6-litre unit that emits 112g/km in CO2, and a 2.0-litre unit delivering 148bhp or 187bhp.

A selection of manual or dual-clutch DSG automatic gearboxes will be available alongside these engines.

Drivers inside the Ateca will be able to benefit from tech features such as an infotainment display measuring up to eight inches, traffic sign recognition and a ‘top-down’ 360-degree view parking aid.

Though the Ateca is smaller than the VW Tiguan, the standard boot capacity is still more than you get from either the Kadjar or Qashqai. The SEAT’s boot measures at 485 litres in four-wheel drive guise or 510 litres when using front-wheel drive.

Pricing for the SEAT Ateca range is currently unconfirmed but online reports suggest it will start from around £18,000.
