Seat Tarraco line-up bolstered with PHEV powertrain and FR trim

Spanish SUV gains electrified powertrain and high-spec, sporty trim

Seat has bolstered the appeal of its Tarraco SUV with the long-awaited introduction of the FR grade — alongside a new plug-in hybrid powertrain.

That new electrified option consists of a 1.4-litre petrol engine linked up to an 85kW electric motor and 13kWh battery pack, working together to produce 242bhp and 400Nm of torque.

As a result, it’s said the Tarraco PHEV is capable of 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds and a 135mph top speed.

It’s also claimed that over 31 miles of electric-only driving is possible, while CO2 emissions will weigh in below 50g/km on the WLTP combined cycle.

Complementing the introduction of the PHEV powertrain is a new FR grade — Seat’s range-topping and sports-focused trim.

Exterior enhancements for the Tarraco FR include wider wheel arches, a rear spoiler, fully painted bodywork and 19-inch alloy wheels — with 20-inch units optionally available. A new Fura Grey paint colour rounds out the aesthetic.

Inside the car, a new 9.2-inch infotainment screen has been introduced, while front occupants are treated to a set of bucket seats. New tech has been added too, namely trailer assist — aimed at making towing easier — and ‘Parking Heater’ which warms the vehicle up faster in cold weather.

Pricing and full UK specifications for the new Seat Tarraco PHEV and FR grade have yet to be released, though expect to hear more following its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show taking place next month.
