SEAT wants your help naming their new large SUV

SEAT is developing a new seven-seater SUV to add to its range and it’s expected to launch sometime in mid-2018. Before its arrival though, the company is holding a public contest to determine what name it will carry.

Following last year’s arrival of the Ateca – SEAT’s first SUV – the Spanish manufacturer is expanding its SUV profile with a smaller entry called the Arona and a larger seven-seater model based on the Skoda Kodiaq.

The latter has yet to be given a name and it now turns out SEAT has decide to leave that decision up to the public. The naming contest is open between now and 22nd June and people can submit their name suggestions online. You can also check out suggestions (both serious and non-serious) on Twitter be searching the hashtag #SEATseekingname

Options for those who want to make a serious name suggestion to SEAT are actually quite limited as the company will only consider names based on geographic places in Spain. The names of monuments or singular buildings will also be considered too, provided they have artistic, archaeological or historical value and are located in Spanish territory.

After the time for name submissions ends, entries will be shortlisted and whittled to just a handful of candidates which will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The public will then be asked to vote which of the finalist names they prefer and the winning name will be announced this October.
