Should the 2019 Renault Zoe be your first electric car?

Renault’s compact electric option is a great entry into the sector due to its excellent range and quick charging times.

The electric car revolution is gaining momentum as the technology involved advances and charging points become more widespread.

With zero-emission options becoming more widespread, now is the right time to get into electric vehicles – and one of the best entry options is the Renault Zoe.

The all-electric city car offers drivers a compact package and clean driving – but why should you consider it above all others? We take a look…

Renault Zoe

Good range

With up to 186 miles of range for the new R110 motor on the WLTP cycle, the Zoe offers more range than any other electric cars in the compact segment. Although this can be dependent on the weather conditions (i.e. less range in colder weather) that should still be enough for three to four days of range while commuting – and even then, the Zoe can be charged up overnight without hassle from a Renault 7.4kW wallbox.

Manageable performance

With the top-end R110 motor on-board, drivers can expect to reach 60mph in 11.2 seconds – but more importantly for urban drivers, it can reach 30mph from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds, so getting around town is much easier. Its top speed is 84mph – but it isn’t likely that you’ll need to go that fast in the Zoe.

Good equipment as standard

Available in the Dynamique Nav and Signature Nav trim lines, the Zoe comes with a high level of equipment. On the base Dynamique option customers will find 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome detailing, a seven-inch R-Link touchscreen infotainment with satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, a leather steering wheel and electric windows – which is quite impressive for a small city car.

The Signature Nav adds a premium feel to the Zoe with part leather upholstery, a Bose sound system, rear view camera and heated front seats.

Prices for the Zoe start from £21,920 after the government’s plug-in car grant, with customers able to hire the battery from £49 per month depending on which one you choose and how far you expect to drive each year.
