The Tucson is Hyundai’s largest offering, and the SUV has just been revealed in its updated 2018 guise, which includes new technology and a refreshed look.
Here we list our favourite new features on the Tucson and why you should consider the large SUV when looking for your next family car.
It’s available with a mild-hybrid diesel
To help improve the efficiency of the Tucson, Hyundai is offering customers the option of diesel mild-hybrid that employs a 2.0-litre diesel engine alongside a 48V electrical system. Producing 184bhp, this is the most powerful option in the Tucson’s powertrain line-up and can be paired to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed auto that works with a four-wheel drive system.
Good level of safety
To give customers peace of mind, the Tucson comes as standard with emergency brake assist and lane keep assist, while further systems such as rear cross traffic alert, driver attention alert and speed limit information function are also on offer in more premium trim levels. Cruise control with a speed limiter is also available from SE Nav upwards, while adaptive speed cruise control is on offer in the Premium SE model when an automatic gearbox is specced.

To modernise the model, Hyundai has applied its ‘Cascading’ grille alongside angular headlights and fog lights, while new taillights have also been fitted. It has also got new bumpers and a range of new alloy wheels with sizes from 16- to 19-inch.
Great kit as standard
To appeal to as many customers as possible, the Tucson comes with a decent level of kit from the base S Connect spec, including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and a leather multifunction steering wheel, as well as 16-inch alloys, climate control and automatic headlights.
Plenty of premium equipment on offer
If you think the base spec model isn’t quite as well-equipped as you would like, options further up the price range can offer features such as wireless phone charging, a KRELL eight-speaker audio system, front and rear parking sensors, a smart electric tailgate, keyless engine start/stop, an electric parking brake and a heated steering wheel. A cruise control system with speed limiter is also available.
Affordable pricing makes it an interesting prospect
Hyundai has ensured that the latest Tucson is affordable and well-placed in the competitive SUV segment, with pricing for the model starting from £21,845. The mild-hybrid version starts from £32,945 as it is only available on the Premium and Premium SE, but the remaining diesel and petrol engines are great options.
