Skoda plots to become one of Europe’s top five car brands

The brand is targeting ambitious growth in the region

Skoda has announced its intentions to become one of Europe’s five best-selling car brands as it looks to expand its sales operations in several key markets.

Announced as part of its ‘Next Level’ strategy for the years up to 2030, the brand has ambitious aims to bulk up its sales, with a separate plan to increase its sales share in Europe from 50 per cent to 70 per cent.

As well as European growth, Skoda also says it has ‘incredible potential’ in growing markets such as India, Russia and North Africa, while it has also committed to safeguard jobs in its home market of the Czech Republic. Skoda says that it has a potential to reach 1.5 million global sales each year before the end of the decade.

Skoda has also said it will introduce at least three more EVs before 2030, which it says will be ‘positioned below the Enyaq iV, both in terms of price and size’. By 2030, it also expects electric cars to make up between 50 and 70 per cent of its sales too, though it says this will ‘depend on market developments’.

Skoda Auto CEO Thomas Schäfer said: “With this new strategy we are providing specific answers on how we will successfully steer Skoda through the transformation process and ensure that the company will be in an even stronger position in 2030 than it is today. The brand has incredible potential. We will be leveraging this in the coming years and setting ourselves ambitious goals.”
