Skoda reveals first teaser images of updated Kodiaq ahead of next week unveil

The new SUV will get a redesigned front end and new lighting

Skoda has revealed the first teaser video of its facelifted Kodiaq SUV, which is set to be unveiled next week.

The Kodiaq was introduced towards the end of 2016 as the brand’s first and largest SUV, helping to kick off a new line of high-riding models for Skoda – the firm launching the smaller Karoq and Kamiq in the preceding years. It’s proven popular, too – not least with families – with more than 600,000 produced.

And despite the Kodiaq still looking fresh and modern, it’s due to get a nip and tuck to ensure it remains competitive against rivals. While the teaser images don’t reveal much, it clearly shows sharper new LED lighting, which Skoda says will be slimmed-down, and as before, will feature two main lights to create a ‘stacked’ look.

Elsewhere, the Kodiaq will incorporate a larger grille, which will be more upright and adopt the new hexagonal shape design, as seen on models like the latest Octavia. New LED rear lights will also be introduced.

Skoda is remaining tight-lipped about other changes, though there is the possibility of a new plug-in hybrid option being introduced, along with additional safety and interior technology.

The updated Skoda Kodiaq will be unveiled in full on April 13.
