Skoda supplies Cleveland Fire Brigade with fleet of Octavia Scouts

The 14 cars will be used to cover more than 370 square miles in the North East of England and come fully equipped.

Skoda has announced a new contract with the Cleveland Fire Brigade service in the North East of England to supply a fleet of Octavia Scouts.

The 14 off-road inspired models have been delivered to the service to be used in emergency response incidents, like road traffic collisions and larger fires.

Over the next three years, these cars will be used as part of a 125-vehicle fleet that covers 370 square miles of Northumbria which offers support to 560,000 people and 249,000 homes in the fire department’s jurisdiction.

That is enough vehicles to be posted at each of the 14 stations in the Cleveland Fire Brigade authority, and each gives the officers on duty four-wheel drive and protective bodywork allowing it to go off-road if needed.

Each vehicle is also equipped with the Cygnal RSG blue lighting system and run lock system, which allows the emergency lights to stay switched on even when the keys are removed from the ignition and not drain the car’s battery.

Karen Winter, director of corporate services at Cleveland Fire Brigade, said: “This three-year lease deal has allowed us to standardise our fleet, and provide vital vehicles to our Flexible Duty Officers to respond to incidents quickly and safely, in all types of conditions.”

The Octavia Scout is priced from £29,310 and comes with Skoda’s best infotainment options and the most storage space for its class – thanks to its estate shape.
