SKODA teases Kodiaq vRS before Paris debut

The fast version of the large SUV is getting revealed this October and it uses a 236bhp bi-turbo diesel engine.

SKODA’s latest vRS model, which is getting revealed at the Paris Motor Show this October, has been teased further before its full reveal.

The Kodiaq vRS is based on the seven-seat SUV and is fitted with the brand’s most powerful diesel engine to date – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with twin turbochargers that produces 236bhp and 500Nm of torque.

This will be SKODA’s first SUV to be given the vRS treatment, and joins the Octavia range as the only other model to currently get a vRS version.

During the testing of the vehicle before its full reveal, SKODA put the Kodiaq vRS around the Nürburgring and set the fastest lap for a seven-seat SUV around the circuit with a time of 9:29.84. Racing driver Sabine Schmitz was behind the wheel.

The vRS name has been part of SKODA’s branding since 2000 and references the company’s motorsport victories (v) as well as its RS models from the 1970s that achieved class victories at the Monte Carlo and Acropolis rallies.

The Kodiaq vRS will also debut the brand’s updated vRS branding, with the model’s full reveal coming on October 4.
