Skoda unveils bullet-proof Superb Estate

This certified civilian armoured vehicle comes with ballistic-resistant protection, an extensive body upgrade, new brakes and altered suspension

After three years of development and testing, Skoda has unveiled a bullet- and blast-resistant version of the Superb Estate.

Developed along with a UK-based convertor, this Superb looks almost identical to the standard model despite the bodywork and glasswork being changed out for explosive-resistant materials.

Now using bullet-resistant glass, high strength steel and composite materials, the Superb still comes with the same five-seat layout and large boot as before.

This model also comes with upgraded suspension and brakes due to the additional weight added to the car to ensure that it drives as well as before, and it also has specialised wheels that can keep going even if the tyres have been deflated.

The full details of the conversion can’t be revealed, but what can be said is that the model complies with the PAS 300 requirements for ballistic and blast protection for an armoured vehicle.

Under the bonnet is an upgraded version of the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that produces 187bhp in its standard guise.

The armoured Superb Estate costs £118,688, and if parts of the vehicle do get damaged, it also comes with a three-year warranty just in case your car does get shot at.
