Skoda unveils rugged Octavia Scout

The more rugged Scout version brings off-road styling and the option for all-wheel-drive

Skoda has added a more rugged Scout variant its new Octavia range.

Scout versions have been available for the previous two generations of Octavia, and add beefed-up looks, as well as the option to have all-wheel-drive so that you can head off the beaten track.

Available on estate versions of the new Octavia, the Scout grade brings plastic cladding surrounding the wheel arches and sills, along with silver underbody protection. Silver detailing also appears around the windows and on the mirrors, too. A choice of either 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels are available. The ride height has also been raised 15mm for extra off-road ability.

In the interior Scout models feature decorative wood trim, along with brown stitching on the leather and suede seats. Being a high-spec Octavia, it also comes with a large 10-inch touchscreen as standard, which features a host of connectivity options and the clever ‘Hey Laura’ voice control system.

For the first time, you’re able to have an Octavia Scout with front-wheel-drive if you want the rugged looks, but are unlikely to ever need the extra capability. All-wheel-drive remains available, though.

Various engine options are available – including a 2.0-litre unit with 113bhp and 148bhp, along with a mild-hybrid 1.5-litre petrol model. Skoda UK has yet to confirm if it’ll come to the UK, but if it does, it’s expected to arrive by late summer.

Regular versions of the new Octavia hatchback and estate will arrive in showrooms next month, with prices starting from £22,390 for an SE Technology trim and rising to £29,515 for an SE L First Edition model. Order books are now open.
