A stolen Lamborghini Huracan hired in Switzerland has been found in London, stashed in a shipping container bound for West Africa.

The supercar, which belongs to Scheiwiller – a Zurich based rental company, leased the vehicle to a woman who was described as smartly dressed and Irish, back in July. The woman claimed she was driving the car to Strasbourg and back, but instead bolted for Calais where she boarded the ferry and crossed the channel.

Fortunately, the car was fitted with a GPS tracker which allowed investigators to track the car to the UK capital. The last known location of the car was said to be in an IKEA carpark, but after getting a tip-off, detectives discovered the £250,000 car stashed in a shipping container bound for West-Africa.

Adriano Scheiwiller, managing director of Scheiwiller, stated: 'The Lamborghini was on the way to West Africa and was found before shipping, it's a miracle my investigator found it. It could have been gone if more time had passed.'
