Subaru Levorg GT confirmed for 2015

The Subaru Levorg GT estate will go on sale in the UK in September 2015, having already made its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It launched last year in its Japanese home market as a rival to models including the Mazda 6 Tourer, Audi A4 Avant and Volvo V60.

Of course, being a Subaru, it will feature the manufacturer’s trademark four-wheel drive, although this no longer separates it from rivals, most of which are also available with four driven wheels at least as an option.

Perhaps bigger news is the inclusion of a new 1.6-litre petrol DIT Boxer engine, with 168bhp. It will be combined with a six-speed Lineartronic automatic gearbox. Sadly, however, the 296bhp 2.0-litre sold in Japan is not expected to go on sale here.

The Levorg GT is a spiritual successor to the fourth-generation Subaru Legacy Tourer, although Subaru claims it will offer “much more” interior space – despite similar exterior dimensions – thanks to better packaging and design.

Subaru also reckons the Levorg GT will be one of its most refined models to date, as well as boasting a factory-fit infotainment system, sports seats and premium cabin materials. Safety will be boosted by blind spot detection and rear vehicle alert.

Further details and pricing will be announced nearer the Levorg GT’s on-sale date, along with full specifications.
