Tesla Model 3 performance details leaked online

Performance figures and other specification details for the much-anticipated Tesla Model 3 have been confirmed, due to an online leak. A document related to Tesla’s new entry-level car was recently posted to the Model 3 Owners Club message board, which has since been shared online.

The document is an infographic which provides a side-by-side comparison of certain statistics for the new Model 3, including performance figures, next to Tesla’s larger and more established Model S. A Tesla spokesperson has since confirmed to Road & Track that the leaked infographic is authentic.

Of all the details revealed in the leaked document, the most intriguing for many will be the 0-60mph sprint time, which is confirmed as 5.6 seconds for the Model 3. For a car that’s meant to be an entry-level family motor, that sprint time is very impressive, as it easily rivals or exceeds the sprint times offered by many modern-day sports cars.

Other information confirmed in the leaked document is that the Model 3 has a projected travel range of 215-plus miles. It will also offer standard boot capacity of nearly 400 litres and the cabin will feature a single digital display complete with a 15-inch touchscreen.

The document also reveals that Tesla estimates that deliveries for the Model 3 placed today won’t take place until mid-2018.

Production of the Tesla Model 3 is projected to start this July, and more than 400,000 pre-orders have been placed for the full-electric family car. First customer deliveries are predicted for late 2017.
