The all-new 2017 Ford Fiesta has been revealed

The brand-new, seventh-generation of the best-selling new car in Britain, the Ford Fiesta, has finally been revealed to the public for the first time.

Ford presented four different guises of its new Fiesta at an event in Cologne, debuting a series of changes Ford hopes will keep Fiesta top of many markets including the UK.

Across the whole range, the Fiesta introduces some styling changes including new running lights in the front bumper and some tweaks to the headlights, bonnet and grille.

Overall though, the face of the new Fiesta is very reminiscent of its predecessor. This new Fiesta is also built on the same platform as its predecessor.

Premium and SUV-styled models join the Fiesta line-up

During Ford’s reveal event, four distinct versions of the Fiesta supermini were confirmed, including the Fiesta Titanium which is the core model in the new range. Joining that is the more performance-focused Fiesta ST-Line and the all-new Fiesta Vignale, which includes more premium styling for both the exterior and interior.

Ford has already established Vignale as a luxury-focused sub-brand with similar specifications already available for other cars like the Mondeo and Edge.

Another intriguing new entry included for the new Fiesta is the Fiesta Active, which includes SUV-like design elements to make this particular Fiesta appeal more to crossover buyers.

Much improved interior with better gadgets

While the Vignale and Active models are bold new additions to the Fiesta’s range, the more standard car could be seen as more evolution than revolution compared to its predecessor. Still, Ford has focused on improving key areas to keep up with the competition, including interior quality and onboard gadgets.

The cabin of the new Fiesta features more soft-touch materials as standard and a panoramic glass roof is available too.

There’s also a brand-new infotainment system featuring an eight-inch touchscreen and this feature means a less cluttered interior with 20 buttons removed from the dashboard. Ford’s latest SYNC 3 software, which supports music, sat-nav and smartphone apps, comes as standard on the new Fiesta.

Safety gadgets such as the anti-collision system and automatic braking feature have also been improved and there’s more safety features available such as blind spot information and a lane keeping assist.

Engines will include the award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol unit, which will benefit from updated five-speed and six-speed gearboxes.

The new Ford Fiesta will go on sale during the first half of 2017 and pricing will likely be similar to the current supermini so it will start at roughly £13,500.
