The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a V8 super saloon monster

Jaguar's performance tuning body has revealed their latest special creation, a V8-run version of the XE boasting a much more aerodynamic body and as much as 592bhp.

Jaguar’s performance tuning division Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) has revealed its stunning new project, called the XE SV Project 8. It transforms the XE compact executive saloon into a super-aerodynamic performance car with the most powerful version of Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-litre V8 ever produced.

The V8 in the XE SV Project 8 produces a humungous 592bhp, which is 25bhp more compared to the V8 used in Jaguar’s F-TYPE-based Project 7.

The images Jaguar has released of the Project 8 show that it is considerably wider, more planted and more aggressive-looking than your typical XE. The front and rear track are wider, the bodywork, particularly at the rear, has been redesigned, the front grille appears to have deeper air intakes and the side skirts are larger.

There’s also the very noticeable rear spoiler and large front splitter, and all these changes will allow this new XE to cope with its V8 power and deliver sharp driving characteristics.

Performance figures have yet to be announced, but a 0-62mph sprint time of around four seconds or less is plausible.

Jaguar will show off the XE SV Project 8 to the public in late June at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Motorists will eventually be able to buy a V8-run XE Project 8, but production will be limited to just 300 examples. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed but various reports suggest it could cost somewhere between £140,000 and £150,000.
