An icon of the 70s is set to make a limited-run comeback later this year.
Say hello to the new Lancia Stratos – well, kind of. It’s actually made by Italian carmaker Manufattura Automobili Torino (MAT) who originally unveiled it back in 2010.
With backing from German entrepreneur and chairman of Brose Group Michael Stoschek – who also helped develop the car – the Pininfarina-designed model will make its return at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this March.
Carrying over many of the same design cues from the original model, such as the wedge-like body design, rear lip spoiler and flared-rear arches, the new Stratos now comes with 4.3-litre V8 Ferrari engine producing 532bhp.
The 25 lucky customers will be able to choose between a GT Sports car and for the adventurers, a Safari rally setup.
The Stratos gained recognition for being one of the best rally cars of its time, winning the World Rally Championship titles between 1974 and 1976.
Michael Stoschek said: “I am delighted that other passionate car enthusiasts can experience how successor of the most fascinating rally car from the seventies still sets the bar for design and performance today.”

“From its foundation in 2014, MAT has been involved in 4 different projects for the design and development of supercars. Now with the New Stratos we will deliver an extremely refined supercar that can be used every day but also deliver excitement and exhilarating fun on twisty roads.”
Pricing and delivery dates for the model is due to be revealed at Geneva.
