The most powerful Skoda Octavia vRS ever has just been unveiled

The 2017 Skoda Octavia vRS 245, the most powerful version of the Octavia yet produced, has just been unveiled and will go on sale in the UK later this year.

Skoda will unveil the most powerful version of its popular Octavia ever at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the 242bhp Octavia vRS 245.

Significantly more powerful than the previous range topper, the Octavia vRS 230, the 245 is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Skoda says it can hit 62mph from a standing start in 6.6 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 155mph, putting it about on par with its cousin, the Volkswagen Golf GTi.

It also sits 14mm lower to the ground than a standard Octavia and boasts a rear track that’s been widened by 38mm compared to the vRS 230 for a more planted stance on the road.

An electronic limited slip differential is included as standard, along a Sport mode from the drive mode selector and the option of Skoda’s Dynamic Chassis Control.

It inherits the same sharpened looks as the recently-updated Octavia too, albeit with sportier touches like gloss black grille slats, honeycomb air intakes on the front bumper and 19-inch gloss black alloys.

Inside there’s a large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav, along with black Alcatara sports seats, sporty aluminium pedals and ambient LED lighting.

Available as either a hatchback or an estate, the Skoda Octavia vRS 245 will go on sale in the UK with prices to be confirmed upon the car’s public debut in Geneva early next month.
