The new TVR will be officially unveiled for the first time at Goodwood Revival

Rejuvenated British sports car manufacturer TVR has officially announced that its upcoming new car will be unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Revival this September.

The new car, which is this far unnamed, will be the first car to wear a TVR badge for eleven years and will be displayed alongside a selection of TVR’s greatest hits at the Revival’s Earls Court Motor Show.

TVR chairman Les Edgar said: “We are incredibly excited to be unveiling the new car at the Goodwood Revival.

“It’s the first time a global launch of a new car has occurred at the event, and it seems an entirely appropriate place for us to do it, with the marque’s motorsport heritage and an enthusiastic audience of dedicated car fans – and in our 70th anniversary year.”

Details of the new car have been slowly drip-fed for the past year or so, though the exact specifications are still largely shrouded in mystery.

What is known is that the new TVR will be powered by a Cosworth-tweaked version of the same 5.0-litre V8 engine that’s currently used in the Ford Mustang.

Weighing in at just 1,200kg, TVR claims that the car will boast a power-to-weight ratio of more than 400bhp per tonne and will be able to hit 0-62mph in under four seconds with a top speed of 200mph.

To commemorate the new car’s unveiling, TVR says that it has allocated a total of 500 special Launch Edition cars, with customers able to place an order at the Goodwood Revival event.

Order books for the car opened last year with pre-order allocations selling out in just six weeks, before any information had been made public. Prices are estimated to start from around £55,000, while the Launch Edition is priced from approximately £90,000.
