The SEAT Ateca X-Perience focuses on off-roading

SEAT has released first images and details of the Ateca X-Perience, a range-topping four-wheel drive version of the recently launched SUV which is more suited for off-road driving. The X-Perience is set to go on sale during 2017.

More rugged design

While the regular Ateca is already a big and tough-looking model, the X-Perience adds exclusive exterior details such as high-profile tyres which wrap around 18-inch wheels, black trim for the wheel arches plus metallic trim on the lower areas of the doors. Chunkier bumpers, mud flaps mounted on the rear bumpers and chromed roof rails are other design updates.

The X-Perience revealed in SEAT’s images also sports a green scratch-resistant paint job with contrasting orange highlights on certain parts like the side mirrors. The interior also features green and orange highlights, along with leather sports seats, a revised gear lever and rubber floor mats.

Four-wheel drive only

Featuring in the X-Perience’s four-wheel drive powertrain is a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with 190bhp, mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Ateca X-Perience also features hill descent control, boosting the car’s off-road credentials.

Although the car is technically labelled as a concept, online reports say the Ateca X-Perience is already being readied for sales. Pricing is predicted to start at around £1,000 more than the current range-topping Xcellence version of the Ateca, which starts from £23,905 when using the 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine.
