These were the UK’s best-selling cars in June

New car sales continue to rise compared to 2020

The UK’s new car market continues to recover, with registrations up 28 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.

While sales are still down on pre-pandemic levels, the global shortage of semiconductors that play a key part in the assembly of new cars continues to impact sales. That said, an impressive 186,128 models were still registered in June, with particularly strong demand for electrified cars.

But what about the cars that are proving the most popular? Let’s take a look at June’s most popular new cars…

1. Tesla Model 3 – 5,468 registered

The Tesla Model 3 is the UK’s most popular new EV and registrations are showing absolutely no signs of slowing, as this electric car was the UK’s best-selling car in June, and by quite some margin as 5,468 were registered.

Though Tesla does have a habit of registering lots of cars at the end of a quarter, the Model 3’s mix of performance, technology and long electric range mean it’s still one of the best EVs on the market today.

With a sporty driving experience, practical interior and efficient mild-hybrid petrol engines, it is an excellent choice in this popular class.

Though Vauxhall’s latest Corsa might have fallen slightly down the rankings in June, it continues to be the best-selling car in 2021 so far. And with 4,375 models being registered last month, it’s still the most popular supermini.

With attractive prices – especially when financed – smart styling and the option of an electric Corsa-e model, it’s no surprise to see this Vauxhall doing so well.
