Replacing the GS, the ES comes with hybrid powertrains and a high-end finish to go up against the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class

Premium manufacturer Lexus has revealed its all-new ES executive saloon, which is the first one to be offered in the UK and replaces the outgoing GS.

Launching at the start of next year, the ES incorporates the brand’s latest design language that uses the large spindle grille and sharp creases along the bodywork to convey a more dynamic look.

Built on Toyota’s new Global Architecture-K platform – which it says offers excellent body rigidity and freedom of design – this is the largest ES yet, thanks to a longer wheelbase and wider track.

For the UK market, the ES will come with the 300h self-charging hybrid setup that employs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with “a lighter, more compact and more power-dense” electric motor to produce 215bhp. The quoted fuel economy for the hybrid setup is just above 60mpg.

Equipment-wise, the ES comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment display mounted in the central console controlled by a touchpad, as well as a digital instrument display, air conditioning and leather upholstery.

Although an F version is unconfirmed, the ES will be offered with an F Sport trim level, which includes sporty design details like large alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.

The ES will also come with the latest Safety System + as standard, which features additions to the pre-collision system and a two-stage adaptive high beam system.

Prices and specification for the ES300h will be available closer to the launch in the UK.
