Although production is not confirmed, Porsche has said this design may be inspiration for an upcoming model for a 2019 release.

As a way to celebrate the brand’s 70thanniversary, Porsche has unveiled a concept inspired by the 356 Roadster from 1948.

Called the 911 Speedster Concept, the design exercise incorporates cues from current and historic Porsche model, including a two-tone paint job similar to its current GT race car options.

Most of the bodywork is drawn from the looks of the 911 Carerra 4 Cabriolet, with the wings, front bonnet and rear cover all made of carbon-fibre composite material – and all of it is painted in GT Silver and White that harks back to the brand’s earlier racing cars.

Other exterior detailing includes the milled, gold-plated Speedster badge, five-spoke 21-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, the bonnet-mounted fuel filler cap, cone-shaped Talbot-style wing mirrors, twin titanium tailpipes and a Plexiglass wind protector with a ’70 years of Porsche’ logo.

Under the bonnet of the Speedster is a 500bhp flat-six engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission.

The cockpit has been fitted with carbon fibre seats trimmed in light brown leather, but to keep weight low, Porsche didn’t include an infotainment system or air conditioning.

Although Porsche hasn’t confirmed this as a production model yet, it has said that it could join the line-up in 2019 – with a decision on that to come in the next few months.
