This one-off Mustang is like a Fast and Furious nightmare

Ford has created an exclusive one-off version of its new Shelby GT350 to auction off for charity, but it’s a little unfortunate that it looks like a nightmarish Fast and Furious prop.

Designed as a tribute to legendary US Air Force pilot Bob Hoover and his stunt plane, the GT350 is the latest in a string of exclusive ‘Stangs built by Ford to auction off for charitable causes.

Hoover and his ‘Ole Yeller’ P-51 Mustang, the warplane which inspired the name of the world’s most iconic muscle car, to this day holds the coast-to-coast propeller-powered speed record in the US.

Bright yellow paint, green underglow

In tribute to Hoover, the exclusive GT350 features the same green-on-yellow colour as ‘Ole Yeller’, but instead of opting for a simple paintjob Ford tricked it out with glowing green underbody lights.

The car also features neons in the cabin and behind the grille, along with a massive GT3-style rear wing and contrasting black touches for what seems like the ultimate aesthetic crime.

It’s hard to rag on it though, even if it does look a little bit 2001, given that it’ll be auctioned off to donate money to the Young Eagles charity which gives underprivileged children free flying lessons.

Auctioned for charity

As well as that, the Ole Yeller GT350 also gets special accents and badging, Recaro bucket seats and aircraft-inspired gauges, plus puddle lights which project an image of the P-51 onto the ground.

Last year, Ford teamed up with Californian design house MAD Industries to create the Apollo Edition Mustang, a similar one-of-a-kind edition that was sold to raise money for youth education projects.

Featuring a unique black and white Space Shuttle-inspired paint scheme, the Apollo Edition also featured a sizeable rear spoiler and LED underbody lighting like the Ole Yeller tribute.
