Top 10 best-selling cars in June 2018

Do you drive Britain’s current best-seller? SMMT have released their latest car sale figures for June 2018, here are the current top 10 cars sold in the UK.

Although it isn’t vital to which vehicle you choose to drive, it’s always nice to know which vehicles are the most popular – and thankfully, the Society for Motor Manufacturing and Trading (SMMT) release the sales figures for the British car market every month to see how each car is performing.

It may not be a surprise, but the Ford Fiesta continues to lead the sales charts and it surpassed the 50,000 units sold mark in June. But what other vehicles make up the top 10? We take a look.

1. Ford Fiesta – 8,900

The latest version of the ever-popular hatchback has continued to be the country’s best-seller with yet another successful month. With its sales now at 56,415 for the year-to-date, it isn’t a shock to see the supermini at the top yet again.

2. Volkswagen Golf – 6,873

The Golf is always near the top thanks to its quality, good style and excellent standard equipment – whichever one you choose. Although it’s the closest challenger to the Fiesta, it’s highly unlikely it’ll get anywhere near to the Ford this year.

3. Vauxhall Corsa – 6,076

Having finished fifth in sales for 2017, the Corsa is holding station for the first half of the year. However, in June it surpassed itself and outsold other rivals, like the Polo and Mini, so a successful month for Vauxhall.

4. MINI Hatch – 5,839

The retro-style hatchback has always been a customer favourite and the latest version is one of the coolest yet. Offered with plenty of customisation options, the Hatch also drives brilliantly – making it a great hatchback option.

5. Volkswagen Polo – 5,494

Launched last year, the Polo sales didn’t start in explosive fashion, but since then the supermini has performed well in a competitive top 10. It currently sits seventh in the top 10 in the first six months of the year.

6. Ford Focus – 4,840

Although a new model is just around the corner, the Ford Focus has continued to be a popular family hatchback, with almost 5,000 sales in June. In its 20-year history, the Focus has always been a favourite of the British market and with the new one coming soon, that isn’t likely to stop soon.

7. BMW 3 Series – 4,002

This is the UK’s top executive saloon and it’s clear to see why. With good looks, nice equipment and a top-end finish, the BMW 3 Series is getting an update towards the end of the year, so it’ll be even better.

8. Nissan Qashqai – 3,939

In a close fight for the best-selling crossover, the Nissan Qashqai has been a customer favourite since it was released, and the latest version comes with many great features. It is, however, the fourth best-selling car of the year so far.

9. Volkswagen Tiguan – 3,527

The compact SUV is the third VW in the top 10 last month, but doesn’t quite break into the same bracket in the overall sales for the first six months of the year. The latest model comes with lots of good equipment and is also quite affordable.

10. BMW 1 Series – 3,383

In a list dominated by hatchbacks, it’s only fitting the top 10 is finished with another one. The premium compact model comes with the same premium equipment as larger and more expensive BMWs, but is still attainable for a lot of people.
