Top cars of the 2015 Goodwood Moving Motor Show

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is upon us, and a large number of manufacturers are in attendance. Over the course of the weekend they will be showing off new cars and concepts, and a lucky few visitors will even take some through their paces along Goodwood’s famous 1.6-mile hill climb route.

We are attending today’s Moving Motor Show, which allows customers to sample the latest exciting machinery in sought after test drives, or just browse and soak up the atmosphere. Here we round-up the exciting new cars that manufacturers are showing off at this year’s show.

We’ll be posting regular updates of the show’s goings-on as the event progresses, so look out for more details and highlights.

Aston Martin

For this year at Goodwood, Aston Martin have brought two of the most extreme cars they’ve ever built. One of these is the Vantage GT12, which is essentially a road-legal version of its Vantage race car. Featuring a minimalist interior and 592bhp, only 100 units of the GT12 will be built. It will be driven through the Goodwood hill climb route by Aston Martin’s CEO, Andy Palmer.

Aston Martin has also brought the track-only Vulcan to Goodwood. The 800bhp hypercar is worth £1.8 million and with only 24 examples expected to ever be built, it's sure to attract a huge crowd.

Audi

Audi is using this year’s Goodwood show to give its 2015 R8 supercar its debut appearance in Britain, before its launch later this year. The German manufacturer has also brought along the 362bhp RS3 Sportback hot hatch and its new Q7 SUV.

Bentley

Bentley is showing off its updated Continental GT, featuring a more powerful version of its 6.0-litre W12 twin turbo engine. The two-door coupe will be demonstrated on Goodwood’s hill climb route. Other Bentley cars at Goodwood include the Flying Spur and the Mulsanne.

DS

A stand for the DS brand, which is now separate from its owners Citroen, is present at Goodwood this year. The facelifted DS 3 and the updated DS 5 executive car are both be on display. The design for future DS models will be previewed via the DS Divine concept model.

A separate stand is at Goodwood for models with Citroen branding.

Ferrari

Ferrari is wowing the crowds at Goodwood with the 488 GTB and the LaFerrari FXX K, which will both take on the hill climb. The 488 GTB is the much anticipated successor to the 458 sports car. The GTB introduces turbo power, via a 3.9-litre V8 delivering 660bhp in total.

The £2 million track-only FXX K hypercar has a 1,036bhp V12 and produces an incredible amount of downforce. With only 40 planned to be sold, Goodwood will allow a rare sighting of this special Ferrari.

Ford

Ford are looking to steal as much of the limelight as they can at Goodwood this year, as they will hand the new Focus RS its UK debut. The hot hatch will be driven by rally/stunt driver Ken Block.

Not only this, Ford will also debut the right-hand drive Mustang, which like the Focus will drive on the hill climb route. The 2016 Ford GT supercar is also on display on top all of this.

Honda

Honda is giving its long-awaited new NSX supercar its public debut in Britain at this year’s Festival of Speed. It’s on display alongside this year’s Civic Type R hot hatch. While the latter is on sale now and been reviewed, the 550bhp NSX won’t be on sale until near the end of this year.

The British Touring Car version of the Civic Type R is also in attendance. Other cars on display by Honda include the next-generation Jazz hatchback and the all-new HR-V compact crossover.

Infiniti

Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, is displaying as many as three concept cars at Goodwood this year. The line-up includes the Q60 and Q80 coupes and the QX30 compact crossover. The QX30 is confirmed for production at Nissan’s UK plant in Sunderland, it will be based on the same platform as the high-selling Nissan Juke.

Mazda

The 2015 MX-5 is marking its first public appearance in Britain at the Festival of Speed. Available to order now from £18,495 and launching during this summer, the MX-5 is simply one of the most beloved sports cars in Britain.

Joining the MX-5 is the recently-launched CX-3 crossover and the latest Mazda2 supermini.

McLaren

McLaren cars at Goodwood this year include the track-only P1 GTR, the most extreme performance version of its hypercar. Priced at £1.9 million, the GTR weighs 50kg less than a standard P1 but produces 978bhp from its hybrid powertrain.

Also in attendance is McLaren’s new 'lower budget' sports car, the 570S which starts at £135,000. Also, there’s the track-focused 675LT, which is based on the 650S supercar.

Nissan

This year’s Goodwood show is where Nissan’s most hardcore version of the Juke crossover is making its public debut. The Juke-R Nismo is far more powerful than even its Nismo RS, producing nearly 600bhp in fact. Its four-wheel drive powertrain is sourced from the GT-R supercar. A small number of examples of the Juke-R Nismo will be sold to the public, with pricing expected to reach £400,000 or more.

Peugeot

Peugeot is presenting its new 308 GTi hot hatch to the public for the first time at Goodwood this year. This is the most powerful version yet of the 308, able to produce 247bhp or 268bhp from a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Alongside this hot hatch will be a 493bhp R-Hybrid concept based on the 308 and the Vision GT concept plus Gran Turismo 6 pods for gamers.

Renault

The latest Renaultsport Clio, the 217bhp 220 Trophy is on display at Goodwood before deliveries in Britain start this August. It’s even more powerful and focused on driving enthusiasts than the standard Renaulsport Clio.

The Kadjar, Nissan's all-new mid-size crossover and challenger to the likes of the Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqai, is also present at Goodwood.

Renault is also displaying its Alpine coupe concept, first seen at the Le Mans 24 Hour race earlier this month. This concept previews a new production which will carry Alpine branding and arrive sometime in 2016.

Toyota aren’t bringing any new production models to this year’s Festival of Speed, but they will still have some interesting cars on display. One of them is the FT-1 sports car concept, which was first revealed last year and can be driven in the game Gran Turismo 6.

A collection of GT86 models, sporting liveries inspired by Toyota’s motor sport history, are also in attendance.

Vauxhall has brought several of its latest models to Goodwood for display and in some cases to take on the hill climb too. Guests include the VXR Corsa hot hatch, the 576bhp VXR8 GTS muscle car and the Viva city car.

Volkswagen

VW has a few sporty concepts at Goodwood this year, all of which are likely head turners. The line-up includes the Sport Coupe GTE, which is reportedly previewing the next CC. There’s also the XL Sport – a futuristic-looking coupe powered by a Ducati motorcycle engine.

Also there’s the Golf R400, a seriously hardcore hot hatch with a 395bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Reports suggest a production version of the R400 could come as early as next year.
