Top Gear reveals Flintoff and McGuiness as new presenters

The former cricketer and Take Me Out host will join Chris Harris to make the presenting line-up for Series 27.

Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and Paddy McGuiness have been announced as the new presenters of Top Gear alongside current host Chris Harris.

This comes after Matt LeBlanc revealed he would be leaving the motoring programme after the next series, which is set to be shown on BBC Two in early 2019.

Rory Reid, who has co-hosted Top Gear since Series 23, will be moved to Extra Gear alongside Sabine Schmitz.

Filming of Series 27 with Flintoff, Harris and McGuinness will begin in early 2019 – with the run of shows set to premiere in the latter part of next year.

On the reveal of his new role, Paddy McGuinness said: “Getting the Top Gear gig is a real honour and I’m thrilled the BBC have given me this opportunity. To be hosting a show I’ve watched and loved from being a small boy is beyond exciting.

“Top Gear fans worldwide are a passionate bunch and I consider myself one of them. Now let’s start up this Great British machine and see what it can do!"

Flintoff added: “It’s not often you have the chance to do both of your dream jobs, but I’m now lucky enough to say I will have. I’ve always been passionate about cars and I’m so excited to be joining the Top Gear team.”

The new trio were revealed with a photocall on the banks of the Thames in Central London, flanked by a Porsche 911 GT2 RS and an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
