Toyota Land Cruiser V8 pulled from Britain

Toyota has confirmed that it will no longer offer the Land Cruiser V8 in Britain, after seven years of the model being on sale.

The Japanese manufacturer introduced the V8 model to the British car market back in 2008, as a replacement for the Land Cruiser Amazon. Powered by a 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine, this Land Cruiser had 50 per cent more torque compared to the 4.2-litre engine used in the Amazon, boasting 650Nm in total.

An updated version of the Land Cruiser V8, featuring new styling and a new 5.7-litre engine, was recently unveiled for the US market. However, Toyota has decided that sales of the V8 model in Britain are not large enough to justify bringing the updated version to our shores.

In Japan, meanwhile, the Land Cruiser V8 is being replaced by the Land Cruiser 200, an updated model which Toyota is not planning to bring to Europe.

While the Land Cruiser V8 is gone in Britain, Toyota continues to offer the standard Land Cruiser range in this market. Powered by a 3.0-litre diesel, the current starting price for the Toyota Land Cruiser is set at £35,855, which is nearly half the price of the Land Cruiser V8 cost before it was axed (£65,715).
