What is the Toyota Scrappage Scheme?

The Toyota Scrappage Scheme offers incentives of up to £4,000 off a wide variety of new Euro-6-rated petrol, diesel and hybrid cars when you trade in your old car. The Toyota scrappage scheme runs until the end of 2017, and is applicable to those looking to trade in petrol or diesel cars which are older than 7 years old.

Qualifying customers can save up to £4,000 on a new Toyota, with the scheme running from the 1st of September to 31st of December. The Toyota scrappage deal covers almost the entire Toyota range, from the AYGO city car to Land Cruiser and Hilux.

According to Toyota the new scheme ‘adds to a wide choice of attractive offers across the Toyota line-up.’

Toyota’s hybrid range includes the new Yaris Hybrid, the only car in the supermini class to offer the low emissions and fuel economy of hybrid power. Also available are the new C-HR Hybrid crossover and the British-built Auris Hybrid hatchback and Touring Sports wagon.  The New Prius is the pre-eminent example of Toyota’s latest full hybrid technology, while the hybrid RAV4 has quickly become the best-selling version of the popular compact SUV.

Toyota offer savings across the range on popular models such as the AYGO, Yaris, Auris, GT86 and Prius to name a few.

Do you need a Toyota to qualify?

No. The scheme is open to any car or light commercial vehicle so long as it is more than seven years old and you have been the registered owner of the vehicle for more than six months.

It is also important to note that diesel vehicles are applicable for the scheme, there is no restriction on fuel type on trade in vehicles.

Are there any models that are excluded from the Toyota Scrappage Deal?

Whilst each model is available on the scheme, certain grades are excluded (mostly this is because of availability). The offer is available on all new Toyota passenger cars and commercial vehicles, excluding the base grades (Active and X) and Yaris GRMN. The offer is not available in conjunction with any other customer saving programme, Free servicing offer or finance deposit allowance. The Toyota Scrappage Scheme 2017 is available to retail customers only.

What new cars can you buy?

The scheme covers a wide range of Toyota’s petrol, diesel and hybrid models, but savings apply to some specific models/trims.

Also you can’t use the scrappage allowance in conjunction with any other customer saving offers or Finance Deposit Allowances, but usually the scrappage allowance will be greater.

Details of the cars available in the Toyota Scrappage Scheme are outlined below.

What cars can you trade in?

In order to be eligible for the Toyota’s Scrappage Scheme the vehicle you are trading in must be:

  • Owned by you for at least 6 months.
  • More than seven years old.
  • Registered in the same name and address as your new car.

What happens to your old car?

Toyota ensure that after the safe removal of all pollutants and the recovery of retrievable parts the vehicle will be shredded and recovered for future use. Together these processes will meet the legal requirement of a minimum 95 per cent recycling by vehicle weight.

What happens after your old car is traded in?

In accordance with the law concerning scrappage schemes, the vehicle you are trading in will be professionally disposed of so that it cannot go on the road again. Toyota ensures that your car is scrapped in the greenest possible way, with everything which can possibly be recycled being extracted by experts (they partner with a company called Autogreen to achieve this).
