For manufacturers, the annual J.D. Power survey is a major point in the year to see how their vehicles are performing and how customers rate the cars.
For SUVs, J.D. Power rank both small and compact SUVs – with three models named for each category.
Here we take a look at the six cars named in the rankings and explain why they are so good…
Compact SUVs
Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan was named the best compact SUV on sale in the UK, and with that model you get great reliability, plenty of decent equipment and a range of efficient engines for customers to choose from. The Tiguan usually ranks highly in terms of sales, and it’s clear to see why as the handsome SUV comes with plenty of tech and useful features.
Hyundai Tucson
The budget SUV is another impressive model in the compact SUV segment, as the Tucson is well-built, dependable and rather stylish. It also has plenty of great equipment considering its affordable starting price of £20,160 and comes with five years unlimited mileage warranty.
Nissan X-Trail
The bigger brother of the popular Qashqai crossover was third in the list, and the practical model comes with either five or seven seats. Nissan’s overall reliability record has been good for a while now, and the X-Trail is only enhanced with an improved cockpit feel and go-anywhere capabilities.
Small SUVs
Skoda Yeti
Although this model isn’t on sale anymore, the Yeti still captures the minds of the British public by being incredibly useful and quite quirky with its interesting looks. It was replaced by the Karoq late in 2017, but used Yeti options are plentiful – meaning customers can still find this reliable and brilliant car if they want one.
Vauxhall Mokka X
The smallest SUV in the British brand’s line-up and one that stands out from the crowd. The Mokka X appears to buck the trend and rated very highly in the J.D. Power survey and with customers.
Renault Captur
The city car-inspired SUV is a stylish little model that comes with a flexible interior design and lots of intelligent safety features. The Captur has performed well with customers and has impressed in the survey.
