Updated Subaru XV gains more efficiency and kit

Subaru has announced a series of updates for its XV crossover at no extra cost. The starting price for the XV remains at £21,995 for the standard SE trim.

Design changes

The car has received a subtle facelift, with changes including adjustments to the nose of the XV and redesigns for the bumpers, taillights, boot spoiler and alloy wheels plus new headlights with updated fog lamp surrounds. Two new exterior colour options also join the updated XV line-up, called Hyper Blue and Dark Blue Metallic.

For the interior of the updated XV, there’s now a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav and voice control included, while the iPhone’s Siri functionality is also supported. The cabin now also sports piano black trim with contrasting stitching, while there’s a new TFT LCD instrument binnacle behind the steering wheel and an extra USB slot.

More efficient engines

The Subaru XV continues to be offered with 2.0-litre petrol and turbodiesel engines plus the choice of two gearboxes: a six-speed manual and six-speed CVT automatic.

The manual gearbox has been modified with longer gear ratios in order to boost fuel economy but without comprising driveability.

As a result, when the 145bhp turbodiesel and manual ‘box are combined, the XV is now four per cent more efficient than before, returning 52.3mpg combined. CO2 emissions are also reduced from 146 to 141g/km. Diesel-powered XVs still start at £23,995.

When picking the 148bhp petrol engine and CVT gearbox, the updated XV specification is two per cent more efficient – recording 43.5mpg combined and emitting 151g/km.
