Updated Volkswagen Golf SV now on sale

Volkswagen has refreshed its latest Golf SV, bringing it in line with the rest of the range, and is now on sale from £28,595

Volkswagen has updated its Golf SV MPV with a new engine and a raft of safety technology for 2018.

The Golf SV has a key focus on versatility and practicality, and has traditionally been well received by older customers and families thanks to its easy access and high seating position. It has a wheelbase 50mm longer than both the Golf hatch and estate, allowing for more space and a sliding rear door.

The updated MPV receives a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, which has recently seen a mass-rollout across VW Group’s brand as of late.

Bringing it line with the rest of the Golf range, the SV has received technological improvements previously seen on the hatch and estate model. This means it now has an eight-inch touchscreen that includes improved smartphone connectivity and features full LED rear lights, while LED headlights are also an optional extra.

Styling changes remain minimal, although notable differences include a new front and rear bumper and a revised rear diffuser. Two new colours are available, alongside four new alloy wheel designs.

The MPV also receives safety technologies such as pedestrian monitoring and front assist for the first time, both of which are fitted as standard. Meanwhile traffic jam and trailer assist are now an option for the first time on the SV.

The new 1.5-litre petrol engine is available in either 128bhp or 148bhp tune and sits alongside a 1.0-litre petrol, 1.6-litre diesel and 2.0-litre diesel engine.

The updated SV is on sale now, priced from £20,475 for the 84bhp 1.0-litre petrol in ‘S’ grade, while GT trim models with the 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine starts at £28,595.
