Vauxhall Corsa models recalled due to fire risk

Vauxhall is recalling 2,767 previous-generation Corsa models in the UK because of a potential fault that could cause a fire.

It is specifically models built with a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine between 2006 and 2014 which are being recalled. The recall includes Corsas in various trims including Black Edition, SE and SRi.

The fault is in the Vacuum Pump Relay Box which could short circuit and create a fire if water reaches it.

Vauxhall says that just two fires in Corsas have occurred and the recall is a precautionary measure. The exact issue with these Corsas was determined by Vauxhall while investigating one of the fires.

It has been stressed by Vauxhall that no other Corsa variants aside from those listed are affected by this issue. It has also been confirmed that the recall is in no way connected to a recall of Vauxhall Zafira models which occurred earlier this year, because of a separate fault which could lead them to catch fire.

Vauxhall says that any customers concerned that their car may be affected by the fault which has led to the latest recall should contact its customer care team on 0800 026 0867.
