Vauxhall Crossland X fully revealed

Vauxhall has finally revealed its new crossover model, the Crossland X, in full for the first time.

Expected to launch this summer, the Vauxhall Crossland X will likely start from around £15,000. The Crossland X is considered a replacement for the Meriva MPV and while this new Vauxhall has a somewhat boxy shape like most MPVs, there are some SUV design elements included too such as chunky bumpers.

There were reports prior to the full reveal of the Crossland X that this car would aim to take on the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and SEAT Ateca, which would make it bigger than the Vauxhall Mokka X crossover. It has now been confirmed however that the Crossland X is smaller than the Mokka X.

In fact, the Crossland X is shorter than the Vauxhall Astra, although it is taller than the family car. But it can still realistically aim to appeal to both crossover SUV buyers, as well as those that have considered a new MPV.

Cabin similar to Astra

The interior of the Vauxhall Crossland X is reminiscent of the latest Astra, particularly when observing the design of the dashboard and seats. The seats in the Crossland X though are higher positioned and said to be designed better for long-distance driving.

The centre of the dashboard features a touchscreen display which can measure up to eight inches. It comes with Vauxhall’s IntelliLink software, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Other onboard features include in-car Wi-Fi and wireless phone charging.

Also found on the Crossland X’s kit list is a rear parking camera, lane keep assist, LED headlights and drowsiness detection warning. Standard boot capacity of the Crossland X is 410 litres with the seats in place, increasing to 520 litres if you slide the rear seats forward or 1,255 litres if they’re folded flat.

Engine details are unconfirmed, but a range of front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive powertrains can be expected. Likely to share powertrains with the Mokka X, the new Crossland X could include a 1.4-litre petrol unit and 1.6-litre diesel plus six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
