Volkswagen confirms sporty R-Line pack for Golf SV

Volkswagen has confirmed a new sporty trim level called R-Line will join the 2016 Golf SV range.

A new R-Line version of the Volkswagen Golf SV, which will give the MPV a sportier feel, will arrive to the UK market during summer 2016.

Pricing and engines for R-Line

The R-Line trim adds new styling and kit to the Golf SV and will reportedly start from just under £26,000. The family car currently starts from £19,225 and rivals the likes of the Citroen C4 Picasso and the Ford C-MAX.

Engines for the Golf SV R-Line are expected to include a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and 2.0-litre TDI diesel. Both are found on certain existing models in the current Golf SV range and both produce 148bhp.

While the new R-Line doesn’t boost the performance figures of the Golf SV, it will allow customers the chance to give their MPV a sportier feel all-round.

New look for the Golf SV

For the exterior, the R-Line introduces new and sportier front and rear bumpers, chrome exhaust trim, silver roof rails, redesigned air intakes and the choice of 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels. R-Line logos are also placed on the bodywork.

The interior of the Golf SV R-Line, meanwhile, introduces a more distinctive microfiber seat upholstery, along with stainless steel pedals and a multifunction leather sports steering wheel.
