Volkswagen Touareg SUV range expanded for 2020

VW’s flagship SUV will be offered with a range of new trim levels next year

Volkswagen has broadened its Touareg range for 2020 with a number of new trim levels.

Key to this upgrade is the introduction of a new entry-level SE grade, which drops the price of the Touareg down by more than £4,000 to £45,445, though it still comes well-equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, a large touchscreen navigation system and heated front seats.

Sitting above the current SEL trim (priced from £49,645) is the new SEL Tech grade, which is available from £50,995. This ‘Tech’ model will be a good buy – adding a 12.3-inch digital cockpit, large 15-inch touchscreen, an electric tailgate, as well as revised 19-inch alloy wheels and tinted glass to distinguish it from the regular SEL.

Following this in the running order are the existing R-Line and R-Line Tech versions (priced from £53,145 and £56,245 respectively) which major on sporty styling, while sitting at the top of the tree is a new Black Edition grade.

Available from £58,745, this model comes with black 21-inch alloy wheels and a black styling pack to separate it from the regular model. Other features include adaptive self-levelling suspension, along with a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof and Matrix LED headlights.

The engine choice remains the same as before, with buyers having the option of a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with outputs of 228bhp and 282bhp, as well as the powerful 335bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit.

Brian Luckie, Touareg product manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The Touareg is already a versatile all-rounder, combining the luxury of an executive car, the capability of a tough, off-roading SUV, the practicality of a family estate and dependability that comes built-in with the Volkswagen roundel.”

“By offering three new trims, we’re further expanding the audience for the Touareg, injecting more variety and all-important choice into its line-up, to suit even more of our customers.”

The Touareg continues to be available with a useful 48-hour test drive offer (offered to interested customers), while the new range is available to order now.
