Volvo to offer upcoming S60 with Polestar Engineering pack

The future saloon will come with this pack alongside the T8 Twin-Engine petrol plug-in hybrid model

A week before the reveal of the new S60, Volvo has confirmed that the model will be available with the performance-angled Polestar Engineered pack.

Specially made for plug-in hybrid T8 Twin-Engine models, the Polestar Engineered option was developed by Polestar – Volvo’s electric performance arm that is soon to release its own vehicle, the 1.

This pack sits at the top of the S60 range above the R-Design model and is only fitted with the T8 unit.

Volvo confirmed that it will also be available with the XC60 and V60 from next year, but production will be limited.

For this pack, Polestar has upgraded the hybrid setup’s output from 394bhp to 409bhp, with torque also increased from 640Nm to 670Nm. Additional performance features have been added in the shape of new Brembo brake units, Öhlins suspension and adjustable shock absorbers.

New lightweight alloys, Polestar emblems, black chrome exhausts, gold brake calipers and gold seatbelts have also been fitted to differentiate it from other S60s.

Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo Cars president and chief executive officer, said: “Electric cars are our future. Today starts a new era of Volvo electrified models enhanced by Polestar’s performance engineering prowess. This strategy is firmly grounded in our shared belief in an electric future for the car industry.”
