Take a look at the 2018 Volvo XC40 Compact SUV

Volvo has unveiled its first compact SUV - the XC40.

With prices starting from £27,905, it is available to order now with deliveries coming through at the start of 2018.

From launch the model will be available in three permanent trims - Momentum, R Design and Inscription - and the limited-run First Edition, which will come with all of the high-end features. Volvo will also offer Pro versions of each specification to appeal to business users.

Vehicles will come with plenty of equipment from the base spec, including a nine-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch display in the instrument binnacle and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Pro versions offer high-tech equipment, such as a heated windscreen and front seats, and adaptive headlights.

The First Edition is based on the R-Design Pro specification, but also comes with the Xenium pack, Pilot Assist, a power-operated tailgate and a Harmon Kardon sound system.

The XC40 will also come with Pilot Assist, Volvo’s semi-autonomous safety system that aids steering at speeds up to 80mph, and can control the acceleration and braking thanks to a host of sensors and scanners.

Safety systems include emergency braking and oncoming lane mitigation, which warns you if you sway into the opposite lane.

Models will be available with diesel and petrol units, with power ranging from 147bhp up to 244bhp. Automatic and manual transmission options are also on offer which can be paired to a front- or all-wheel drive system.

Volvo drivers will also be able to use the new Care by Volvo service, which is a monthly package service that includes the price of the car, servicing, insurance and on-demand services such as the ability to hire another Volvo vehicle for a limited time. These will launch for customers inside the M25 from today.

This model is aimed at a younger target market due to the funky styling and the more affordable options, although it is going up against some other high-end compact models, such as the Audi Q2 and the BMW X1.
