What’s new on the Peugeot 2008 and e-2008?

We look at what you can expect from this new French crossover — including an all-electric variant.

Peugeot has just revealed its all-new and technologically impressive 2008 range — including the all-electric e-2008.With a whole new look, a plethora of improved technology and that exciting EV option, there’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to the new Peugeot 2008. We take a look at what to expect from the crossover…

Fresh design

Peugeot’s latest corporate design has produced some truly stunning cars, and the new 2008 is no exception. Up front, its slotted headlights are flanked by sharp ‘walrus tusk’ daytime running lights which, along with a large grille, create a really imposing look on the road.

The back of the car fits squarely in line with the rest of Peugeot’s SUV range. Claw-like taillights sit on top of a translucent bar that spans the full width of the rear — with the firm’s text logo sitting in the middle.

The new 2008 utilises the latest version of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit interior technology — including an impressive heads-up display that utilises hologram technology. Semi-autonomous driving assistance items are through in too, along with kit such as ‘Full Park Assist’ which takes over entering and leaving parking spaces.

Electric power

For the first time, the 2008 range gets an all-electric option. Dubbed the e-2008, this battery-powered variant utilises a 100kW electric motor and 50kWh battery to offer an impressive base range of 193 miles between charges. Better still, the system supports 100kW rapid charging that allows the charge to be taken from flat to 80 per cent in as little as 30 minutes.
