When I die and they lay me to rest, send me off in this Maserati hearse

If you’re the sort of person who would be late to their own funeral, fear not as you can live fast, die young and now be chauffeured to your final send-off even faster.

Italian coachbuilder Ellena Autotrasformazioni, which specialises in funeral cars, has built its exclusive new G3.0 hearse on the body of a diesel-powered Maserati Ghibli.

The company has taken the V6-powered sports car and stretched it by just over one and a half metres, bringing its total length to more than 21 feet.

21 feet long, 270bhp diesel V6

That’s enough room for a coffin up to eight feet long, but in true Maserati fashion it comes with low-profile sport tyres, nautical leather upholstery and a removable crucifix in case the deceased isn’t Christian.

The regular diesel Ghibli is fast enough to reach 62mph from a standing start in 6.3 seconds, and although the hearse is heavier and therefore a bit slower, it’ll still be quicker than your average funeral carriage.

What a time to be alive. Or not…
