As one of the UK’s most popular executive models, the 3 Series has been the pick of business users for some time. But we’d recommend keeping your cash for a little while longer, as the seventh generation 3 Series will be going on sale at the start of next year – so if you want to get the most for your money, wait. With efficient units, a dynamic driving feel and premium finish, the 3 Series is a model you shouldn’t turn down. However, if you want to go for a current model, prices start from £27,800.
5 Series Touring
For cruising up and down the length and breadth of the country, there are few models that do it as well as the 5 Series. In the Touring estate guise, customers will find even more space – 40 litres more in the boot than in the saloon – and when specced with an efficient diesel engine, it can go for a significant distance on a single tank. Add to all of that the high level of technology available and it’s an incredibly impressive car. The 5 Series Touring starts from £39,005.
7 Series
The flagship saloon is a quality model for covering long distance in comfort and in iPerformance guise even has an all-electric mode for zero-emission driving. The 7 Series offers the best finish available on a BMW model, as customers will find leather and metal trim in the cabin flanking top-end tech. It can be an excellent limo as well, with a long-wheelbase option providing even more passenger space. As the pinnacle saloon, prices start from £63,040.
X2
As our SUV of the year, we think very highly of the X2 and the compact crossover is a great option for young families wanting a premium-feeling model. With sporty styling, good amounts of interior space and some of the latest tech, the X2 stacks up better than many of its premium crossover rivals – with BMW offering plenty of customisation to make it your own. Prices for the X2 start from £30,040.
X5
Seen by many as BMW’s definitive SUV, the X5 has been a key product for the manufacturer for some time, and the new model is the best yet. With bold styling, huge amounts of space and great off-roading capabilities, the X5 is a compelling option in the crowded and competitive premium SUV segment. It even comes with an M performance version, which only enhances the car. Prices for the X5 start at £57,495.
