Car manufacturers in the industry are keen to encourage motorists to move into new cars with modern, cleaner petrol and diesel engines.
There is particular interest in encouraging motorists to move on from older diesel-run cars in order to reduce the impact on the country’s air pollution, particularly in cities. Newer petrol and diesel cars for the most part also offer far better running costs anyway, which is attractive for motorists, but of course having the budget for such cars is another matter.
Quite a few car brands launched a car scrappage scheme in the UK in 2017, to better persuade more motorists to trade in their old diesel (or petrol) car, in exchange for a substantial saving on a fresh replacement.
Due to the success of the schemes, many scrappage deals were extended into 2018. Here we round up in alphabetical order which car manufacturers offered a UK scrappage scheme, which schemes have been extended and summarise the details of what’s offered from each brand in order to check if your car is eligible.
Please check each manufacturer for the exact details of their scheme, as they are subject to change. Also, subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date on the latest scrappage scheme news and guides.
