Why the Audi A8 is a bargain luxury car

The flagship German saloon is one of the most advanced around and compared to more premium options is very good value

The luxury saloon market is filled with some truly quality offerings – but has Audi made one of the best value luxury limos on sale?

The A8, which was released back in 2018, started off the latest design language concept, while also introducing new tech and comfort features.

But can the A8 be considered a bargain when compared to its fiercest market rivals? We take a look…

Well-priced limo

Although the BMW 7 Series starts at a lower price point than the A8, the Audi’s main rival, the Mercedes S-Class, costs almost £5,000 more to start with. In fact, you can get a long wheelbase version of the A8 for just a little more than the base S-Class – meaning you can get even more passenger space for your money.

Plenty of kit as standard

On a car costing almost £70,000 to start with, you’d expect there to be more than enough equipment to shake a stick at – and you’d be right. As standard, the A8 comes with 18-inch alloys, adaptive air suspension to soak up the bumps, chrome detailing, comfort seats with leather upholstery, air conditioning, dual infotainment touchscreens, the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display, wireless charging pad with enhanced Bluetooth and multiple safety systems.

Tonnes of passenger room

Audi has prided itself on making the A8 as capacious as possible, and whether you choose the regular or long wheelbase models, passengers in the back won’t complain about being cramped. With the wheelbase exceeding three metres on both versions of the saloon, legroom will never be a problem, while the car is high and wide enough to allow for lots of head and shoulder room as well.

Rear seat comfort options

Although these may not come as part of the standard, Audi offers some wonderful comfort options as part of the A8 package. The £9,100 Rear Seat Pack Plus ensures that passengers in the pack won’t be bored or feeling unwelcome, as it adds a foot plate with massage function, contoured seats with memory functions, comfort headrests, rear entertainment displays and a rearseat remote to control the infotainment system. If you need to ferry passengers around regularly, this is a great option to select.
