Why the Honda Civic should be on your next fleet

Why the Honda Civic should be on your next fleet

The Honda Civic might have been around for a while but it has changed dramatically since it first came on the market. The Japanese car maker has continued to improve and add to the popular hatchback, making it a car worth seriously considering for both practicality and price.

This huge segment means there’s plenty of competition around – and the Civic sits in contention with the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf – so why should the Civic be top of your consideration list?

There’s loads of space

If you need a five-seater car that can offer plenty of space for load-lugging, then the Honda Civic has you covered.

For starters, it has 420 litres of boot space, which is more than its aforementioned rivals. However, there’s also the option to increase this in EX or Prestige models thanks to the removable boot floor. Now you’re up to 478 litres!

It’s got a five-star safety rating

When the Civic was recently re-tested – because the manufacturer was dissatisfied with its original four-star score – it achieved a full five-star Euro NCAP rating. This applies to all Civic units built after September 25, 2017.

Petrol or diesel – it’s your choice

Honda is well-known for its range of economic engines, and with the Civic you can choose between an efficient petrol or diesel – depending on your lifestyle.

There’s the choice of a 1.0- or 1.5-litre petrol engine – with the smaller engine the slightly more economical option. According to the official figures, this will achieve around 58mpg while the 1.5-litre will manage around 48mpg.

Meanwhile, there’s one diesel engine available – a great choice for if you’re regularly doing longer journeys. This 1.6-litre will officially achieve 68mpg but also has low CO2 emissions of just 93g/km.

Stand out looks in its segment

It’s undeniable, the Civic really stands out compared to its rivals when out on the road.

The angular looks of this car means it looks unlike anything else in its segment and is truly eye-catching. This continues inside with this sporty styling – if you’re looking for something a bit different, the Civic will undoubtedly tick that box for you.

Packed with features

For many car buyers, a top priority will be great connectivity. While Honda’s infotainment won’t be up everyone’s street, the Civic also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can seamlessly use your own phone’s navigation and media setups.

Safety is a big concern too, and as with all of Honda’s models, the Civic comes with the brand’s ‘Sensing’ safety pack. This includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, land keep assist and cross traffic monitoring.
