Witness the new Alpine A110 blasting down the Col de Turini

Fans of pure-bred sports cars, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for: the moment you’re finally able to witness the new Alpine A110 on the road and in motion.

And not just on any road either. The newest teaser for the revamped A110 sees the car tackle the world-famous Col de Turini mountain pass in the French Alps, widely regarded as one of the best driving roads in anywhere on earth.

Piloted by Le Mans-winning driver Nicolas Lapierre, the video sees the car blast its way down the twisting tarmac and through the snowbanks at high speed.

The first Alpine-badged car in more than 20 years, the all-new A110 harks back to the original Alpine A110 Berlinette from the 1960s and was unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show last week.

It sticks close to Alpine’s original ethos of compact size and lightness of weight, with much of the body made of lightweight aluminium, giving it a dry weight of just 1,080kg – the same as an MX-5.

Power comes courtesy of an all-new 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, which has been designed and built specifically for the new A110 and which produces 249bhp and 320Nm of torque.

As a result, the car has a better power-to-weight ratio than its main rival, the Porsche 718 Cayman, and is able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds before topping out at 155mph.

However, given that it’s priced from approximately £50,000, the A110 is significantly more expensive than the Cayman, and is available with only a single gearbox choice in the form of a seven-speed dual-clutch auto.
