We say

Huge car with added levels of quality, comfort and a much sharper design than the previous generation.

Performance

1.6-litre turbocharged petrol boosts power and lowers emissions, but the range of diesels – from 1.6 HDi to 2.7 V6 are much more interesting when looking for power and refinement.

Emissions

Citroën’s range of engines is improving all the time, and consumption over 60mpg and emissions at 121g/km are now possible with the 1.6 e-HDi.

Driving

The C5 Saloon is perfect for long motorway journeys with comfortable suspension. It’s not as agile around corners however.

Feel

The C5 Saloon is refined, comfortable and quiet.

Space

Room for five adults with enough head and leg room. Decent amount of boot space for storage as well in the C5 Saloon at 439 litres.

Equipment

Climate and cruise control offered as standard on the C5 among a good entry-level specification. Trio of trims offer decent amount of gadgetry.

Price

The Citroën C5’s prices are in line with rivals but residuals are poor.

Quality

The C5 Saloon is much improved in terms of quality and matches many in the sector.

Safety

Loads of safety kit makes for a 5-star NCAP rating for the C5 Saloon.

Refined and composed, it is also stylish and well put together; excellent diesel engines.

Cons

Not particularly agile, poor residuals.
