Fiat 500 Street

(Tuesday 21 August 2012)

Fiat 500 Street.

The latest in what is becoming a majestically long line of Fiat 500 special editions has just gone on sale. The Street, available only as a hatchback and not as a convertible, is based on the entry-level Pop trim but comes with 16" alloy wheels, tinted windows, air-conditioning, sports seats, the Blue&Me infotainment system, a leather-rimmed steering wheel with audio controls, a rear spoiler and satin chrome finishing for the exterior mirrors, doorhandles and other mouldings.

There's a choice of five colours, named - with varying degrees of originality - Matt Black, Crossover Black, Bossanova White, Pasodoble Red and Electroclash ("What?" "Electroclash." "What does that mean?" "No idea." "Oh.") Grey.

Fiat says that the extra equipment is worth £1800, but the Street is priced £1400 higher than the Pop at £11,360 for the 1.2 petrol, £12,760 for the two-cylinder 875cc turbo petrol TwinAir (hurrah!) and £13,760 for the 1.3 diesel.
