Ever since the Nissan Juke debuted in 2010, this model proved to be a gamechanger.
Just like its larger Qashqai sibling, the Juke invented its own sector – the compact crossover market, to be precise. This segment has boomed in popularity ever since, and 10 years later, Nissan has a new second-generation Juke.
The latest model continues to be as quirky to look at as ever, but is now more spacious, advanced and efficient than before. If you’re in the market for a small crossover, the Juke remains one of the best. Here’s what you need to know about it…
What powertrains are available?
The engine choice couldn’t be simpler with the Juke – this crossover is now only available with a single new 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The three-cylinder petrol unit produces 115bhp and 200Nm of torque – enabling a 0-60mph time of 10.4 seconds and a claimed top speed of 112mph. In terms of efficiency, Nissan claims it will return up to 47.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 112g/km.
The engine is on offer with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as an option – the latter being marginally thirstier and slower.
Further options could be introduced in the future.
What trim levels are offered?
While there might only be one engine option available, there are no shortage of trim levels – buyers having six to choose from. Equipment highlights and pricing are follows.
Visia – from £17,440
Standard kit includes LED headlights, a 4.2-inch digital driver display, cruise control, air conditioning and DAB radio. On the safety front, this features lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.
Acenta – from £19,040
This trim is the pick of the line-up – adding 17-inch alloy wheels and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. It also comes with connected services and a reversing camera.
N-Connecta – from £21,040
N-Connecta brings satellite navigation, a larger digital driver display and keyless entry and start. It also gains automatic climate control, a leather steering wheel and ambient interior lighting.
Tekna – from £22,540
Popular Tekna models feature large 19-inch alloy wheels, a Bose sound system as well as a heated windscreen and heated front seats. It adds a whole suite of safety kit, too – including a panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and a driver attention monitoring system.
Tekna+ - from £23,940
This model is the one to choose if personalisation is important. Alongside the revised 19-inch alloy wheels, it gains two-tone metallic paint and an interior and exterior personalisation pack.
Premiere Edition – from £24,040
This special launch addition model features a cool red and black personalisation pack, as well as black leather and Alcantara seats.
What about personalisation?
The Juke has always been a great car to make your own, and this latest Juke is no different, with the model having loads of personalisation options.
Starting with colours, cool shades such as Vivid Blue, Fuji Sunset Red and Chestnut Bronze are all stand-out choices. An easy way to add style is to choose two-tone paint, which includes having a black, silver or red roof, depending on the chosen body colour of the car.
The customisation is also carried through to the interior, as you’re able to choose various cabin personalisation packs – including having orange, black or grey accents throughout the interior.
In terms of conventional options, there are very few available. It could be worth looking at the accessories list, though. Here you’ll find bike racks, ski carriers and tow bar kits, which could prove useful, depending on your needs.
