2016 Renault Megane Sport Tourer unmasked

Check out the first images and details on the new Renault Megane Sport Tourer, on sale in late 2016.

First images and details of the new Renault Megane Sport Tourer estate have been revealed, ahead of the family car’s public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Reportedly going on sale during this autumn, the new Renault Megane Sport Tourer will rival the likes of the SEAT Leon ST, Ford Focus Estate and Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer. Though not much yet has been confirmed about the new Megane estate, the car does receive a sporty GT trim and a roomier interior.

New styling

The new Sport Tourer has the same front end as the new Megane hatchback, which was first revealed last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Highlights of the Megane Sport Tourer’s exterior design include the complex-looking headlights with LED daytime running lights and the stripe of LEDs between the taillights at the back.

For the interior, the new Renault Megane Sport Tourer will use an 8.7-inch portrait-style touchscreen, which also features in the hatchback version. A heads-up driver instrument display will be optional. With the rear seats folded down, total load capacity has reportedly increased to 1,600 litres.

Rumoured engines and pricing

Engines are expected to be lifted from the Megane hatchback so 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units are likely. The GT version of the Sport Tourer will reportedly use a 202bhp petrol unit. The GT model will also come with various unique styling touches including a chromed exhaust piper, a rear diffuser, unique air vents and a radiator grille mesh.

Pricing for the new Megane Sport Tourer is unconfirmed but could start from about £18,500.
